Purely Transmitting Integrable Defects * )

چکیده
Some aspects of integrable field theories possessing purely transmitting defects are described. The main example is the sine-Gordon model and several striking features of a classical field theory containing one or more defects are pointed out. Similar features appearing in the associated quantum field theory are also reviewed briefly. 1 Classical picture The context of this topic is two-dimensional (i.e. one space – one time) integrable classical (or quantum) field theory, and the basic question concerns how to 'sew' together field theories defined in different segments of space.

Aspects of Purely Transmitting Defects in Integrable Field Theories
Some classical and quantum aspects of integrable defects are reviewed with particular emphasis on the behaviour of solitons in the sine-Gordon model.
متن کاملPurely Transmitting Defect Field Theories
We define an infinite class of integrable theories with a defect which are formulated as chiral defect perturbations of a conformal field theory. Such theories can be interacting in the bulk, and are purely transmitting through the defect. The examples of the sine-Gordon theory and Ising model are worked out in some detail.
متن کاملFUZZY GOULD INTEGRABILITY ON ATOMS
In this paper we study the relationships existing between total measurability in variation and Gould type fuzzy integrability (introduced and studied in [21]), giving a special interest on their behaviour on atoms and on finite unions of disjoint atoms. We also establish that any continuous real valued function defined on a compact metric space is totally measurable in the variation of a regula...
متن کاملSemiclassical Analysis of Defect Sine-gordon Theory
The classical sine-Gordon model is a two-dimensional integrable field theory, with particle like solutions the so-called solitons. Using its integra-bility one can define its quantum version without the process of canonical quantization. This bootstrap method uses the fundamental propterties of the model and its quantum features in order to restrict the structure of the scattering matrix as far...
متن کاملJump-defects in the nonlinear Schrödinger model and other non-relativistic field theories
Recent work on purely transmitting ‘jump-defects’ in the sine-Gordon model and other relativistic field theories is extended to non-relativistic models. In all the cases investigated the defect conditions are provided by ‘frozen’ Bäcklund transformations and it is also shown via a Lax pair argument how integrability will be preserved in the presence of this type of defect. Explicit examples of ...
